Jim brings over three decades of strategy, innovation, finance and sustainability expertise to New Mexico Venture Studios.

He was a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley, where he created their global sustainability office and supported new start-ups, such as Solar City (solar leasing, leading to a successful IPO). He has advised many Fortune 100 companies on strategy, created a private equity fund and helped launch new start-ups, such as Fisker (EV), XL Hybrids (converting commercial mini vans to hybrids), and Fathym (IoT). Most recently, he was a senior partner with NIF, a $3-5Bn private equity fund, for NEOM (a new green city in the Middle East) and was focused on identifying new innovation and advanced biomaterials start-ups around the globe.

Jim grew up on a small ranch in Montana, has a B.S. in civil & mechanical engineering, and received a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University for studying advanced economics.

He has been in New Mexico for over twenty-five years and is intensely curious about anything related to life sciences.
